Why should I install a Roof Window/Skylight?

The main difference between a Roof Window and a Skylight is that a Skylight is fixed (does not open) where as a Roof Window is an operable window. A Roof Window is often a good option when wanting to allow both light and fresh air into a space. 

Do you have both opening and fixed Roof Windows?

Yes, we do have both opening and fixed Roof Windows.

What is the product guarantee?

20 Years warranty on the Insulated Glass Unit and 10 Years warranty on the Skylight and Roof Window.

Do I need a building consent?

No, you do not need a building consent if it is only a Roof Window/Skylight being installed.

What sizes do they come in?

There are three different sizes for both fixed skylights and roof windows. Fixed skylights are available in 620mm x 980mm, 830 x 980mm and 830 x 1380mm. Roof windows are available in 550 x 980mm, 780 x 980mm and 780 x 1400mm.

Can I install the Roof Window/Skylight myself?

Yes, you or your qualified builder, roofer or plumber can install the Roof Windows/Skylights, however we cannot offer warranty on faulty craftmanship or installation that is completed without following the installation guidelines.

Does HomeTech install the Roof Windows?

HomeTech can install Roof Windows in certain areas of New Zealand.

What brands do you sell?

The Roof Windows/Skylights sold are the Fakro brand. HomeTech imports these from Poland where they are manufactured. Fakro is a leading World manufacturer of Roof Windows and Skylights.

Are the opening Roof Windows top hung or centrally pivoted?

Our Roof Windows are centrally pivoted.

What is the minimum pitch my roof has to be?

The minimum pitch your roof has to be is 15 Degrees. The standard flashings are designed to suit concrete tiles/ clay tiles, some pressed metal tiles, corrugated iron, some trapezoidal rooftypes, not all longrun roof types. Shingles tiles may be possible where the appropriate flashing is used. With longrun roof’s tray flashings are often recommended.

Are there accessories for Roof Windows/Skylights?

Yes, you can purchase blinds for your Roof Window. All blinds come in beige colour. There are two types of blinds: a roller blind and also a blackout blind.

What roof types will the Roof Windows/Skylights suit?

Our Roof Window/Skylight flashings suit roof profiles: Corrugated Iron/Longrun, Decrobond or Concrete Tile. Not all roof types are suitable for installation (even when a custom flashing is made) so please ask an expert.
